Lebanon
Back in August, most of the world watched dramatic footage of a massive explosion in the port of Beirut, the beautiful capital of Lebanon. The staggering images and devastating toll: 220+ dead, thousands injured, 250,000 people lost their homes and all that in addition to an ongoing economic crisis, political crisis, Covid-19 crisis… But God is not in crisis. He is firmly in charge and deploying his church to serve those in pain.
Our Rock missionaries and partners on the ground in Beirut are on the front lines responding to the crisis. Here is one brief account of the blast from one of them:
"In the midst of the confusion, screams and cries for help echoed in our neighborhood as victims began running to the hospital next to us.” As we were leaving our apartment, _____ yelled at me to not look up at the hundreds of people covered in blood as we ran over mounds of metal and glass from shattered homes and storefronts covering the streets. It felt like we were in a horror movie.”
Our Rock missionaries and partners in Lebanon are:
Supporting families who lost their homes in the explosion.
Providing food and medicine packs for refugee families most affected by COVID-19.
